Pakistan vs India

Samsung series of cricket between Pakistan and India put an end to over 13 years of silence and stoppage of each country playing at either side's home ground. Not surprisingly, Samsung came up with the title of the series to be "Jeet Lo Dil" - or Win Hearts. The Samsung's officials claim that the focal idea behind the design of the Samsung Cup is to convey a strong message of peace and friendship that the Indo Pak Series themselves connote. The Indo-Pak series being played in Pakistan after a span of 14 years are both symbolic and historical.

There are three primary metaphors around which the design has evolved.

The simplest metaphor has been to portray this tournament as a handshake between the two nations. This thought has been portrayed in the form of two overlapping hands.

The other concept is the use of the dove as a symbol of peace and harmony between the two nations. This has been achieved by stylizing the thumb of each hand to look like the bird's head and the fingers as a stylized representation of a bird in flight.

In its most literal translation, the idea of this trophy being associated with cricket is brought forth by stylizing the two hands as gloves which are holding a cricket ball between them.

Pakistan India Cricket Series Statistics:

The two countries have been involved in a rather unique 13 in-a-row drawn games from the last two matches of the 1952-53 series, five games each during the 1954-55 and 1960-61 seasons, and the opening match of the 1978-79 series - a long span of 26 years.

One down and stylish batsman Zaheer Abbas remains the only batsman from either sides to notch up centuries in three successive matches in both tests and one - day internationals . In tests , he made 215 at Lahore , 186 at Karachi and 168 at Faisalabad during 1982-83 series . Then he posted 118 at Multan , 105 at Lahore and 113 at Karachi in the one day internationals in the same series.

As many as three Indian leaders have lost their captaincy after the tour of Pakistan during the last four decades . The trio is : Bishan Singh Bedi after he lost the three match series 0-2 in 1978-79 ; Sunil Gavaskar after 0-3 defeat in the six match series in 1982-83 and Krishnamachari Srikkanth after a 0-0 stalemate during 1989-90 season.

India and Pakistan have never played against each in the first four editions of the World Cup , but then met once each in the subsequent essays. And India holds the record of emerging triumphant in all four engagements, yielding hundred percent record . However , the under 19 Indian team trails 1-2 to under 19 Pakistan team in the junior World Cup in 1987-88 , 1997-98 and 2000-01 championships.

The honour of scoring the most career runs in India - Pakistan test matches goes to the Javed Miandad who in 28 matches has plundered 2228 runs , with the help of five centuries , at an impressive average of 67.51 . They have lost five matches and drew the remaining 15 games . South Africa remains the only other nation where India is yet to emerge victorious in a Test match.
