This piece is a fanart of Shikai (left) and Joki of Leigh Balder's "Schism," a webcomic I'm a fan of.

Sanya's Kushiel's Avatar
A Tribute to Kushiel's Avatar, by "Jacqueline Carey"

Time Taken: Roughly four hours, divided over three weeks.
Tools Used: Micron Technical Pens, Pigment pens and Photoshop 7
Source of Inspiration: The Kushiel Trilogy written by Jacqueline Carey, which begins with "Kushiel's Dart," continues with "Kushiel's Chosen" and ends with "Kushiel's Avatar." It is, without a doubt, the greatest thing I've ever had the pleasure of reading, and therefore I wanted to pay homage to this outstanding trilogy. There's something for everyone in this trilogy, so what are you waiting for? Go read it! To show my best friend how I see her in digital form. It quite pleased her.
What is it about: The artwork is built around the protagonist of the series, an infamous courtesan named Phédre: touched by the Gods and gifted, or cursed, with the ability to feel pleasure and pain as one. Yeah, she's the one with the red mote in her eye. :) to her left is Melisande, the great traitor of the realm, responsible for the death's of Phedre's brother and mentor. I kept her close to Phedre's side because, regardless of the horrible things she's done through out the trilogy, Phedre only hates Melisande as much as she loves her. To Phedre's right is her Perfect Companion: Josceline. He is her lover/fighter, so I felt it appropriate that he takes her right: protecting Phedre and keeping an eye on the devious Melisande. Finally, above Phedre is Hyacinthe: her childhood friend. For the better part of the trilogy, Phedre is trying to find a way to save Hyacinthe from.. well, to find out the rest, and to figure out who all the rest of those people are, you aught to read the series-- don't you think?

That look by Sanya
That Look

Time Taken: Inking: An hour. Toning: Three hours. Total: Roughly 4 hours.
Tools Used: Micron Technical Pens and Adobe Photoshop 7
Source of Inspiration: This is my original and copyrighted character "Lyf," giving the viewer a somewhat saucy "come
hither" look.
What is it about: There isn't too much to this piece, but regardless I'm extremely proud of it. I think I've successfully portrayed the rough sexuality that Lyf is all about. Also, I adore dressing up my characters in wacky outfits: I'm all about the pseudo-cowboy-gothic-business-woman-rocker look.
