Nrupen has received recognition for his work in the form of awards from
the Advertising Club, the Commercial Artists Guild, the International
Pegasus Awards, etc. However, the one he is specially proud of is the
International Award for Excellence from Ballantine's of UK, in 1994, for
an image of his called "Shelter" which was chosen from 14,000 entries from
across the world.
Over the years, Nrupen's work has been published in various photography, art and advertising journals, namely, the Times Journal of Photography, Better Photography Magazine, Asian Photography, Luerzer’s International Archive, Lalit Kala Akademi, etc.
In 2000, one of his fine art images was selected for publication in a book called "Ignite Your Senses" which is a compilation of the work of 65 artists from South East Asia, published by the renowned Swire Group of Hong Kong.
He has participated in several group shows, including the Exhibit-A series, over the last ten years. He’s also had a successful solo exhibition in 1994, titled "The Flower Series" at the NCPA, Mumbai. Recently, in June 2003, he took part in a month long fine art photography exhibition called "Frame of Mind", in Mumbai, which got an extremely positive response, both critically as well as by the viewers. Currently, his work is on display at ME, a lifestyle and furniture megastore in Worli, Mumbai. The exhibits are on view till the end of November, 2003.
Nrupen has a deep passion for fine art photography, which is an established art form in the west, but is still to be recognized widely in India. However, he believes that with more dissemination of information and knowledge through exhibitions and workshops, an awareness for this emerging art form will gradually take place.
The images on display at these exhibitions are of a personal nature and not related in any way to his commercial work. Nrupen has had the opportunity to sell his work to buyers and collectors in India, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Nrupen is equally passionate about his commercial work. His portfolio includes assignments that he's executed for Interiors and Architecture, Food & Ice Cream, Jewellery, Product photography, Portraits & People, and Landscapes.
